Wiki Forge ("we"; including Fan Forge, Hobby Forge and the wikis on them) is a free, ad-free wiki platform. By signing in or contributing, you agree to these terms. Reading wikis doesn't need an account or any agreement beyond this: be decent.
The short version#
- Wikis are written by their communities. You keep the copyright in what you write, and you license it to everyone under CC BY-SA 4.0.
- Follow the content rules. Each wiki can add its own rules on top.
- We don't show ads, sell data, or charge for features. The service is offered as it is, especially while it's being tested (alpha and beta).
- We can remove content or accounts that break these rules.
Your account#
- You need to be at least 13, or older if your country requires it, to make an account.
- You sign in with Discord, Google, an email link or a passkey. Keep access to them secure; you're responsible for what's done with your account.
- Your handle (
@name) is public and appears in page histories. Don't pick one that impersonates someone else or the platform. - One person, one account, unless a wiki's moderators agree otherwise (for example a bot account they approve).
Contributing#
- When you save an edit or upload a file, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you license your text under CC BY-SA 4.0. Your handle is the attribution. See licensing for files and fair use.
- Edits are public and permanent in a page's history. Moderators can hide a revision that contains personal information or illegal content.
- Each wiki is run by its owner and the people they appoint (admins, moderators, trusted editors). They decide the wiki's own rules, can review, revert or remove contributions, and can block people from editing that wiki.
Running a wiki#
- Anyone signed in can request a wiki; each request is reviewed by a person. Approval isn't guaranteed.
- The owner looks after the wiki: its settings, its people and its rules within these terms. Owners can hand a wiki to someone else, and can download everything at any time.
- If an owner disappears or a wiki breaks these terms, the dispute policy explains what happens.
What we can do#
- Remove content, hide revisions, block or ban accounts, or close a wiki that breaks these terms or the law, or that puts others at risk. We say why when we can, and the dispute policy explains how to appeal.
- Change or end features, or end the service. If Wiki Forge ever shuts down, we'll give notice and keep exports available for a reasonable time.
- Change these terms. We'll tell you about significant changes before they apply; continuing to use Wiki Forge after that means you accept them.
No warranty#
Wiki Forge is provided "as is", without any warranty. Wikis are written by volunteers and can be wrong. To the extent the law allows, Wiki Forge isn't liable for losses from using Wiki Forge or relying on what's written on it. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.
Copyright complaints#
If something on a wiki infringes your copyright, write to admin@wikiforge.wiki with what it is, where it is, and why you believe it infringes. We'll look at it and may remove it.
