Everything written on Wiki Forge wikis is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. Contributors keep their copyright and give everyone permission to:
- share it (copy and redistribute), and
- adapt it (remix, transform, build on it), for any purpose, even commercially,
as long as they:
- credit it: name the page, the wiki, link to the page or its history (which lists the authors), and link the licence; and
- share alike: release what they make from it under the same licence.
This is why a community can always take its wiki elsewhere: owners and admins can download every page and its full history at any time.
Crediting a page: for example, "From Rampart on the Apex Legends Wiki, by its contributors (see history), CC BY-SA 4.0."
Files#
Each upload has a usage tag, shown on its file page:
| Tag | Meaning | Reuse |
|---|---|---|
| Own work | The uploader made it | CC BY-SA 4.0, credited to the uploader |
| Freely licensed | Released under CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0 or public domain | Under that licence; the source is given |
| Fair use: official media | Screenshots, promotional art, covers and similar, owned by someone else and used to illustrate the article | Not CC BY-SA. Others can't assume they may reuse it. The source is given. |
Fair-use files are marked as such in exports, so they aren't mistaken for freely licensed content.
Code and design#
The Wiki Forge software and the site's design aren't covered by the wiki licence.
